Located in the center of the nation’s fourth-largest state, home to two deep water ports and with several infrastructure and workforce development projects underway, Tampa Bay is a natural home and for distribution & logistics investment. Given this abundance of assets, it is understandable that Tampa Bay’s stable of notable distribution centers includes such heavyweights as Wal-Mart, Coca-Cola, JC Penney’s, Beall’s and Home Depot.
 
Port of Tampa and Port Manatee, respectively, are the largest and fourth-largest ports in Florida and combined handle more than 45-million tons of cargo annually. Each offers ample room for development and superior access to the interstate and highway system. Recently, the Port of Tampa completed a an expansion of its container terminal which now includes 2100 feet of berth length, three rail-mounted container gantry cranes and a 100-ton mobile harbor crane, all on a 43-foot deep-water channel.
 
Future improvements to Tampa Bay’s distribution & logistics infrastructure include a $390-million rerouting of the road network to enhance connectivity between the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway and Interstate 4 in Tampa, and rail transportation leader CSX has announced its intention to build an integrated logistics center in Polk County consisting at build-out of three million square feet of warehouse space, 1.5 million square feet of industrial space and 500,000 square feet of office space.
